Description

Every night I lie in my bed
Sleeping with my eyes wide open
Waking up more miserable than the last
As depression tightens its grip on me
With its cold clammy hands.

Happiness sits in front of me out of reach
Staring at me and mocking me
Teasing me with moments of happiness
Only to take it away.

Everyday my loneliness grows
Like an unwanted weed
The only company I seem to have 
Is my very own shadow
And even that seems to try
And break away from me.

Every now and then I catch myself
Looking over my shoulder 
Hoping for someone to keep me company
Only to see depression lurking behind me
Waiting to tighten its grasp
Suffocating me until I breathe my last…
